Childhood cats
Athena:  age 16 ~ the matriarch          (AKA Diavolaki)

Athena is the sweetest and oldest cat I own - she's quiet but loves to cuddle and be near you. She sat by my feet (or on my lap) when I completed my MS thesis - so she made it into the 'acknowledgements'! She has travelled with me by bicycle, plane and across the country in my car a few times and is a great traveller. She also loves baths. She was at one time nearly 25 pounds, but now she is a sleeker 21.5. I take her for walks in the field behind mom's house. She is Fluffy's surrogate mother. :)

  Fystiki:  age 8.5          (AKA Peanut)

Peanut moved to Greece in 2002 but is probably the only 'house' cat over there! :)

Sisterly Love!

Fasoli:  age 12

Fasoli is a stray I took in who had 6 kittens and mothered 3 more at the same time. She is the 'independent' cat out of the three I own and quite the 'follow' cat.. :)

Fluffy (Florina):  age 11  (Fasoli's baby and Athena's surrogate baby)

Fluffy was hit by a car in June 2007 and at the time I was told I may have to amputate her rear left leg. We decided to splint for the summer and she has amazingly made a full recovery. She is the 'talker' and the one who likes to ride on your shoulder. She has had more than her share of close calls with me while travelling. :)

Fostered Cats/Kittens

I have helped more than a two dozen homeless kittens from local human societies or that I found, until they were old enough to be adopted. Here is just a few: If you want to help with strays in Greece, Greek Animal Rescue (Canadian-based) is a reputable non-profit organization the I work with. I have links to other reputable animal rescue charities here.

Putter was our angora cat from my childhood until he died in 1991.

Gizmo was our first calico cat. We got him in 1983 and he died in 1998.

Hollis is the second calico cat and that we got in 1991. She died in 2007.
